I’m the first to admit that the summer squash got out of control.
When things get started in the garden and a second plant creeps up out of the soil right next to another one, determined to be a well-behaved gardener, everything inside me screams - thin it!
Like the scene from Elf with the 6-inch ribbon curls. I hear, “Thin the plant, Lori.” But…
“THIN it!”
I’m only human. Ripping a baby plant from its motherly soil feels cruel.
So, I don’t. Then I end up with two huge plants that would have been healthier without their twin sibling.
But, ha-ha! The joke is on the gardening experts because I still managed to get squash that were two inches long one day and no less than 10 lbs, the next. The miracle of summer squash.
The plants have run their course, though. But not without me capturing as much of their journey into my world as I could.
These are Golden Egg Summer Squash, by the way. A yellow zucchini, and I highly recommend them.
Love squash! They make stunning vegetable table arrangements. Thank you for posting!
